MP Martin Vickers praised the Principal and multi-academy trust behind Scartho Gateway Academy after visiting to mark the end of our successful opening year.

The academy has increased numbers dramatically since last year and will do so again in September.

The mainstream school is run by Lincolnshire Gateway Academy Trust (LGAT), also responsible for Waltham Toll Bar Academy, Cleethorpes Academy, Reynolds Academy and Waltham Gateway Academy, among others.

Mr Vickers met with Trust leaders and was given a tour of the school by Principal Melanie Portlock and pupils Sasha Kamutenga and Noah Bishop. He had preceded it with a visit to Waltham Gateway Academy, also run by the Trust and opened at the same time.

He said: “It’s great to have two new schools in my constituency and I am delighted they are part of Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust.

“It has an excellent record and reputation going back many years for providing a first class education to children in this area.

“I was also delighted to meet the two Principals, who are very impressive.

“They lead mainstream schools serving their communities, which also have Inclusion Bases to support children with special educational needs.

”Both schools are real assets to the local area and will provide excellent education for many years to come.”

LGAT’s Chief Executive Officer Martin Brown, with Chair of Trustees Phil Bond and Executive Principal (Primaries) Andrew Clark, accompanied Mr Vickers.

Mr Brown said Mr Vickers’ visit was “greatly appreciated”.

“It is fantastic to have the local MP visit both our new schools,” he said. “We were able to tell him that numbers of pupils at both are growing strongly and faster than we expected.

“This is down to the quality of the leadership and teaching in both schools. The communities in Waltham and Scartho can see that in the first class education children are receiving.

“It’s not just about the academic outcomes, which have been terrific. The extra-curricular activities being provided, whether that be trips, visitors and events, are making a huge difference to the lives of children in the communities we serve.”

Mr Bond was also delighted to welcome the MP.

“Martin can see it is not just about the buildings,” he said. “This is about the positive environment you can feel in both these academies when you step through the doors.

“There is a real buzz about what’s being provided for the children by our first class staff teams, shown by the levels of community support and participation. It is an honour for the Trust to run both schools.”

Mrs Holness, Principal at the Sunningdale school in Waltham, said: “I'd like to thank Martin for taking the time out of his busy diary to visit our school and for his very supportive comments.

“We're proud to be the second mainstream primary to serve the Waltham community and to have established ourselves in village life so quickly."

Pupils Sasha Kamutenga and Noah Bishop helped Mrs Portlock show Mr Vickers around the Scartho Top school on Matthew Telford Park.

"We were proud to show the academy's MP around our wonderful building,” said Mrs Portlock.

“His visit coincided with sports day so it was great that he saw the strength of support from our families. We thank him for his time."
